La population pyrénéenne est totalement isolée du stock principal, qui vit dans les Alpes. On la considère habituellement comme une sous-espèce (Rupicapra rupicapra pyrenaica).		The picture: what is it? An Izard, which the is name given in Pyrenean regions to the Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra). The Pyrenean population is totally isolated from the main stock, which is found in the Alps. It is usually considered a subspecies (Rupicapra rupicapra pyrenaica).
Où est-ce ? Dans le Parc National d'Ordesa, sur le versant espagnol des Pyrénées centrales. Ce parc et le Parc National des Pyrénées, en France, se prolongent mutuellement de part et d'autre de la frontière, comme le Parc de la Vanoise (France) et celui du Grand Paradis (Italie) dans les Alpes.		Where is it? In Ordesa National Park, on the Spanish side of central Pyrenees. This park and the Pyrenees National Park, in France, are continuations of each other on the two sides of the boundary, as the Vanoise Park (France) and Gran Paradiso Park (Italy) in the Alps.

Est-ce une oeuvre à message ? S'il y a un message, c'est qu'on peut parfois faire l'effort d'aider le hasard. Le matériel photo était à l'époque lourd et encombrant. Sur le chemin de randonnée, je prenais soin d'être toujours prêt à utiliser le téléobjectif, qu'il aurait été plus confortable de transporter dans un sac à dos. Les environs du chemin étaient riches de magnifiques fleurs sauvages, et je m'arrêtais fréquemment pour démonter le téléobjectif et monter l'objectif macro. Pendant ce temps passaient les purs randonneurs sportifs, soucieux de couvrir au plus vite le maximum de distance et de produire le maximum de sueur, et qui ne voyaient rien. Après chaque photo de plante (je mettrai un jour quelque-unes d'entre elles sur ce site), je me rééquipais pour l'emploi du téléobjectif et je repartais. C'était fatiguant, et sans doute un peu ridicule. Soudain un groupe d'isards a traversé le chemin, et j'étais prêt. Cela n'a duré qu'un instant, mais j'ai pris dix photos, dont j'ai choisi six pour les présenter ici. C'est la seule fois où j'aie jamais rencontré des isards.		Is it a work with a message? If there is a message, it is that a little effort may help chance. Photographic equipment was then rather heavy and cumbersome. On the hiking pathway, I was taking care of being constantly ready to use the telephoto lens, which would have been easier to carry in a backpack. The vicinity of the pathway was rich in superb wild flowers, and I stopped frequently to unmount the telephoto lens and mount the macro lens. In the meantime, serious hikers were passing along, eager to cover as fast as possible the largest possible distance and to produce the largest possible amount of sweat, oblivious to anything else. After taking each flower picture (I shall display some of them on this site some day), I fitted the telephoto equipment again and resumed walking. It was a tiring, and probably somewhat ridiculous, routine. Then a group of izards crossed the pathway, and I was ready. Suddenly they were gone, but I had shot ten pictures. I have chosen six of them for display on this site. This is the only time I have ever encountered izards.
